IWS is hiring a CCRR Outreach Coordinator! Job Posting Outreach 2024

The Islands Wellness Society (IWS) is an inclusive community-based agency that provides a variety of services in a safe and supportive environment. IWS respectfully acknowledges that we are located on the unceded and traditional territory of the Haida Nation.

Our services endeavour to promote empowerment, overcome trauma, address violence, promote equality and enrich the lives of children and families on Haida Gwaii.

We are funded through the Ministry of Public Safely and Solicitor General under the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division, as well as the Ministry of Education.

We have 5 programs of service: Child Care Resource and Referral, Child and Youth Counselling – now called the Prevention Education Advocacy Counselling Empowerment (PEACE) Program, Outreach, Victim Services, and Women¹s Counselling. We also operate the Feed the People Food bank program which serves all the south Haida Gwaii communities as well as the Daajing Giids Holiday Hampers. Nell Toegel is leaving IWS after 18 years of dedicated service to the clients of this organization. We have benefitted greatly from her commitment to the work with our clients and we wish her all the very best going forward.

 The Islands Wellness Society child and youth counselling program is designed to aid children and youth who have been impacted by abuse in the family and extended community.

We provide individual, group/circle counselling, and workshops to women 19 years of age and over residing in the south-end island communities of Haida Gwaii.

Victim Assistance
We provide practical and emotional support to ALL victims of crime while our Outreach program coordinates with other agencies on-island to identify and address the needs of women and their families.
