The Child Care Resource & Referral Program is currently seeking someone to fill the position of Family & Resource Consultant. This position is 20 hours per week based primarily in our office in Queen Charlotte. The successful candidate will enjoy working with people, be organized, efficient and computer savvy and feel comfortable working as part of a team, as well as on their own.
Preference will be given to candidates who have an Early Childhood Education Certificate or who are interested in getting it. The Family & Resource Consultant works in tandem with the program coordinator, and will be responsible for attending monthly staff meetings and taking part in decision making with staff and board in our consensus based organization. We are a feminist agency and are seeking someone who wishes to promote equality and empowerment. Benefits are available after the successful completion of a three month probationary period.
Program Info: The Haida Gwaii Child Care Resource & Referral program provides support, resources and referral services for child care providers, parents and caregivers in all communities on Haida Gwaii. We partner with community groups to provide workshops, training and professional development opportunities. We aim to promote quality childcare choices that meet the needs of local families. We are part of the Islands Wellness Society, an inclusive community-based agency that provides a variety of services in a safe and supportive environment.
In Office work:
Providing information and referral to clients including but not limited to; child care information and consultation, child care subsidy assistance and society membership.
Manage the Lending Library:
-Helping clients to find items
-Planning theme boxes and updating stock to respond to community need
-Purchasing new items according to budget
-Managing Inventory, both physical and on our website
-Maintaining waitlist for items
-Managing Lending Library Facebook page
-Setting up toys and equipment, making coffee at Queen Charlotte Teen Centre as well as clean up & take down
-Hosting caregivers and children for a two-hour playgroup 2 days per week on Mondays and Fridays.
Training and Support:
-Support in offering Professional Development, and Outreach Opportunities in all communities
